Cindy Norcott addresses a very interesting topic of doing business in a generosity-focused manner. She begins her talk by emphasizing that generosity is the new business strategy, and goes on to dive into the concepts of give-and-take, scarcity mindset and goes on to share how she runs her business based on the concept of generosity. Businesses should move from trading with employees on a no-connection base and start becoming more caring with their employees and start investing more in growing their employees. There are a number of strategies to achieve generous-centric business models and Cindy shares a couple of case studies on this topic. Cindy Norcott's experience in business spans 26 years. She founded Pro Appointments and Pro Talent in March 1994. The organizations focus on the placement of temporary, contract and permanent staff in the fields of office support and administration, accounts and finance, Sales and Marketing, IT, Medical, Technical and Insurance. Their team of experienced specialist recruiters work alongside Cindy to cement the organization's core value of having a heart for people. Cindy's interests lie in the business arena. She loves to help people develop their businesses and reach their full potential. Mentoring and coaching business people who are keen on taking themselves and their businesses to the next level, and delivering motivational talks about goal setting, success, motivation and management inspire her to constantly read up on business subjects and inspirational topics. She is the author of "How to be Unstoppable and Achieve more in Business and Life". This book is aimed at motivating people in business to be more focused and disciplined in order to achieve their goals. She also drew on her 20 year business journey and filled the book with lessons that have helped her to live a fulfilled, purpose-driven life. The book was launched two years ago and to date, she has sold more than 5000 copies. Her top three lessons that she has learned are that one needs to have self-belief, a firm commitment to meaningful goals and self-discipline. She founded the Robin Hood Foundation in 2005. Through this NPO, she works with a team of committed trustees, volunteers and a full-time coordinator. Their goal is to address solutions to poverty among the poorest members of society. Through the foundation, they have projects running weekly that aim to distribute resources into the hands of the poor. The First Igniting the Fire Gathering was held at the sacred site of Manitou Api in the geographic centre of Turtle Island (North America) - at Bannock Point in Manitoba's Whiteshell Provincial Park.

The First Igniting the Fire Gathering was held at the sacred site of Manitou Api in the geographic centre of Turtle Island (North America) - at Bannock Point in Manitoba's Whiteshell Provincial Park. Elder Dave Courchene received a vision to call the people back to the ancient sacred site, which had been used for thousands of years by the Original Peoples from all over Turtle Island for gathering, meeting, sharing ceremony, dreams, visions and prophecies. This historic first gathering features the late respected Elders Robin Greene and Don Cardinal. The Elders gave special permission for parts of this special ceremonial gathering to be recorded and shared. "During the event of the gathering, there was an appearance of many little turtles. The Elders said this was a sign of a time of a new life, a sign that the rebirth of our people had taken place at this event." The Turtle Lodge is responsible for initiating Igniting the Fire – The Sacred Gathering, an annual gathering of Elders, Youth, Adults, Parents, Students, Educators and Researchers, led by indigenous people and open to people of all cultures and backgrounds. Igniting the Fire – The Sacred Gathering has been held annually in the sacred site of Manitou Api in the Whiteshell Provincial Park, Manitoba, Canada. At this gathering, nations gather the way our ancestors did since time immemorial on our sacred sites, to share knowledge, medicines, ceremonies and prophecies. It is a gathering where our Elders transfer their knowledge to youth and adults, following the protocol of our old ways. The 1st Annual Igniting the Fire gathering was held in 2006, with 350 people attending. In 2007, numbers rose to over 1000. Several documentaries and films have been produced based on the gathering, including The 8th Fire (see www.the8thfire.org). This recording begins with a slideshow of the late Dr. Svetlana Chernikova, professor and environmental leader from St. Petersburg, Russia. An introduction follows by Dr. Robin Marsh of UC Berkeley presenting highlights of Svetlana's life and career. Next, Angelina Davydova, who is an environmental journalist and professor at St. Petersburg State University, and the first Svetlana Chernikova Fellow to attend the Environmental Leadership Program at UC Berkeley, speaks about the new and growing community-based, environmental and political activism in Russia. Dr. Fritjof Capra, Founder of the Center for Ecoliteracy, presents the keynote lecture on Systems Thinking and Sustainability. The lecture presents an evolution of systems thinking in Europe over time, with a focus on the less well-known but crucial contributions of Russian scientists. Dr. Capra then links systems thinking with the concepts of economic and social sustainability. He ends with an examination of the main components for achieving sustainability on our planet. Among these are collaborative leadership and inter-sectoral social networking for which Dr. Svetlana Chernikova was widely known.
