Lessons from a crisis – How to achieve a climate neutral, energy secure and prosperous transition for Europe and the business sector? All across Europe, business networks have been working actively to increase climate ambition recognising the economic, social and environmental benefits of the transition towards a climate neutral, resource efficient and sustainable Europe. In January 2022, a roundtable brought together these business networks and policymakers to reflect on how businesses can support Europe’s transition towards climate neutrality and the Fit for 55 Package can deliver this transition. The past year saw a great number of policy developments as the EU and its Member States had to deal with the economic and energy related consequences of the war in Ukraine, with the RePowerEU plan, while negotiating the Fit for 55 Package. This event was an opportunity to reflect on the progress made during the past year. Speakers presented solutions developed by businesses to scale up the production and demand for renewable energy, boost energy efficiency, accelerate the decarbonisation of industry and stimulate green investments. They reflected on how policies can enable businesses to scale up solutions to deal with the current climate and energy crisis while increasing the sustainable competitiveness of the EU’s economy moving forward. When the team first began documenting the families’ lives in 1991, the Neumanns and Stanleys were both struggling to adapt to a new, global economy and the trend towards part-time, lower-wage work. Aeshnina is well known for her bravery for her actions in which she sent letters to some high-level figures in the world such as Donald Trump and Prime Minister of Australia in order for them to cultivate waste in their own countries, also taking their waste back from Indonesia. Currently, Aeshnina is in the process of building a museum of imported waste near her home, while also striving to maintain the cleanliness of Brantas River from plastic waste pollution. Moreover, Aeshnina is actively doing an online environmental campaign by writing petitions and spreading information through her platforms. In today's talk, Nina will tell you about the concern that Nina feels about plastic waste pollution in Indonesia's rivers and seas. The amount of plastic waste that we produce from all the products we use every day is made of plastic or wrapped in plastic. Producers should be responsible for handling the collection and processing of waste produced by their companies, so that waste is not scattered in the environment. Aeshnina Azzahra Aqilani is a 13-year-old young environmental activist who has a high concern for imported waste pollution, rubbish in rivers and seas.
