Join Jose Aguto and Tori Goebel to hear how their faith guides their climate action, and how you can build relationships with faith leaders in your community. Tori serves as the National Organizer and Spokesperson for Young Evangelicals for Climate Action. She holds an undergraduate degree in communications and political science from Gordon College (B.A. '16) and a masters of environmental law and policy from Vermont Law School (M.E.L.P. '19). Tori spent 4 years as Communications Director for YECA and the Evangelical Environmental Network, YECA’s partner ministry. Tori was born and raised in New England and currently lives in the Boston area. A DREAM - Get Ready by Dave Courchene I had this dream last night. I was speaking to this man and telling him what I was told by the Grandfather. I told him, “The Grandfather spoke directly to me and said: ‘You were told many years ago that there would be great changes coming to the Earth. As you were told, we prepared you with the spiritual teachings of your ancestors.’ ‘We were preparing you so you could live on the land. To live on the land you have to live from the spirit. Well that time is very close and there is no time to waste. Get the things you will need to survive on the land. Get axes, and the other things and tools you know you will need to live the most simple life, away from the technology that is destroying the water and the land.” I see many changes happening already, and I wondered how severe these changes are going to be in relation to the current lifestyle we are living. I realize that the current path we are on is not one that treats all life in sacredness. The Earth continues to feel the brunt of our selfishness and greed. When we reflect on the current world conditions, there is no doubt of a need for a major change – the need to change our current attitudes, to values that support life. A change is needed to be more kind, more compassionate, more giving and sharing. We were told of a time that is coming where the Earth would give birth to a New Life. The Earth would go through pains of labour while the vision of the New Life, brought by the Great Spirit, was growing in her womb. We were told long before the arrival of the newcomers in our homeland that there would be people coming from the many different lands of the Earth. They were brought here by the Great Spirit to come and learn, and be reminded of their true spiritual identity and purpose as human beings, which is to love and take care of each other and the Earth. All human beings were given original instructions, complete with values, duties and responsibilities that we are supposed to fulfill. There are those amongst our Nations as the Original People who have stayed faithful and true to our original instructions. It would be these few who would be propelled into the forefront of a movement, offering a leadership of sharing that knowledge. We are living in a time that we need a vision of hope based on values and teachings that can set the foundation for a change of heart. It is the spirit of these seven animals that we call upon to teach and remind us of the Seven Sacred Laws, beginning with the law of Respect – to be a giving and sharing people, following the example of the buffalo who gave its whole being for the life of the people. Love – is about loving the Great Spirit, loving the land, loving ourselves in the way we were created, and loving each other in the highest way, as the eagle brings vision that is always based on love. The essence of love is understanding, with empathy and compassion. Through the unconditional love of the Great Spirit, we have all been given the ability to have vision, and to make our visions come true. Courage – is living from the heart, and having the courage to be ourselves. It takes courage to do the right thing for the sake of the children, the way a mother bear would die before seeing harm come to her cub. Honesty – is being honest with ourselves, speaking and living our truth from the heart. Honesty is refusing to lie or engage in gossip about others. Honesty is being true to our words. Honesty is never judging or condemning others, but to speak well of others, honouring their uniqueness within the human family. Wisdom – is about using the gift the Great Spirit gave each of us to serve, and to build a strong family, community and Nation. Our gifts do not belong to us as individuals, but belong to all the people, to serve the good of the Nation. If the beaver did not use his gift to build, his teeth would grow long and he would die. Similarly if we do not use our gifts in a good way for the benefit of the Earth and the brothers and sisters of our nations, we too would die spiritually. Humility – is about showing gratitude for life received, never overstepping the natural laws of Mother Earth. Humility is to know that not one of us is ever above or below our fellow human beings. We are all equal in the eyes of the Great Spirit. There is so much we can learn from the wolf. The teaching of humility is especially important for the leaders of our Nations. Our motherland is referred to as Turtle Island. To know and live truth is to walk and live all the Seven Sacred Laws. Living truth means living in the spirit of Respect, Love, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility and Truth. It is when we live truth that we will know peace and find the truth of our humanity. When one is able to walk the spirit of these Seven Sacred Laws is when one becomes truly free, it is then that one receives the full support of the universe, and the forces of the Earth itself.

Starting in 2011, when Republicans gained control of the House of Representatives, until this March, Congress enacted hardly any major legislation outside of the tax law President Trump signed in 2017. In the same period, the Supreme Court dismantled much of America's campaign finance law, severely weakened the Voting Rights Act, permitted states to opt-out of the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion, weakened laws protecting against age discrimination and sexual and racial harassment, and held that every state must permit same-sex couples to marry. This powerful, unelected body, now controlled by six Republican presidential appointees, sat at the center of American political life, a trend that will likely continue, with profound impacts on the country's political system and civic life. Ian Millhiser, Vox's Supreme Court correspondent, tells the story of what is likely to come from the Supreme Court in the coming years, particularly around significant divisive issues such as abortion and affirmative action. Equally important, Millhiser also explores the arcane decisions that the Court can use to fundamentally reshape America, transforming it into something he believes is far less democratic by attacking voting rights, dismantling the federal administrative state, ignoring the separation of church and state, and putting corporations above the law. To learn more about the wildlife featured in the episode, visit www.defenders.org/wildlifenation Video Transcript: Jeff Corwin: The United States is home to some of the most spectacular landscapes and diverse wildlife on earth, and there's no better example than an iconic bird that's loved and admired from sea to shining sea.   Now that my friends is a powerful stare. For me, the bald eagle is not only a powerful symbol of the United States, but it is an incredible example of environmental stewardship, conservation, and the importance of the Endangered Species Act. Amazingly, not so long ago, this mighty bird species was pushed to the brink of extinction. But today, it is recovered and it is thriving because we all came together and we protected this amazing symbol of the United States. Jeff Corwin: The modern American environmental movement began in 1973 with the passage of landmark legislation called the Endangered Species Act. This crucial bipartisan law empowered our government to protect and manage vulnerable plants and animals, as well as the ecosystems upon which they depend. The Endangered Species Act has saved dozens of other threatened species from the brink of extinction, including one of my favorites, sea turtles. Today, we're exploring the beautiful beaches of Boca Raton, Florida, where several different sea turtle species make their nests. Jeff Corwin: This is Elizabeth Fleming, she works with Defenders of Wildlife. Her backyard is Florida. Her mission is Florida. This is David Anderson, and you're the sea turtle coordinator for Gumbo Limbo. David Anderson: Yes, I am the conservation coordinator for our five miles of beach in Boca Raton. Jeff Corwin: Awesome. Elizabeth, why are beaches like this critical to the survival of sea turtles? Elizabeth Fleming: Well, Florida is globally important for sea turtles. We have the largest nesting aggregations for loggerhead turtles in the entire world. Jeff Corwin: That's kind of amazing. Elizabeth Fleming: It's kind of amazing. Jeff Corwin: David, I think what's so special about Boca Raton is that a few decades ago, people had a sense of foresight. David Anderson: They had foresight to establish parks - beachfront parks in about half of all of Boca Raton's shoreline. Jeff Corwin: We've got a sea turtle nest right here. What species do you think? David Anderson: This is a loggerhead nest. This nest hatched three days ago, so now we are ready to excavate it and inventory its contents. Jeff Corwin: Awesome. Shall we start? David Anderson: Yes, we can start. Basically just start digging straight down, separate all the hatched shells. Elizabeth, can you help me sort. Elizabeth Fleming: I can. Jeff Corwin: Typically, how many stragglers would you find? David Anderson: I would say about half of the time we excavate nests, we find a live hatchling or two or sometimes three or four. Elizabeth Fleming: So they lay a lot of eggs and numbers are on their side to help them survive. Jeff Corwin: What's really promising is we're seeing a lot of empty shells. David Anderson: Right. Jeff Corwin: Which means, a lot of them got out alive. David Anderson: That's right. Elizabeth Fleming: One in 10,000 actually survive to become an adult and breed. The thing is if we just protect their habitat, they will do the rest. Jeff Corwin: They're indicator species. Elizabeth Fleming: Absolutely. Jeff Corwin: They're keystone species. Elizabeth Fleming: They are. Jeff Corwin: They're critical to the environment. They're a part of human culture. Elizabeth Fleming: They are. Jeff Corwin: It would be a sad world without them. Elizabeth Fleming: It sure would. Jeff Corwin: Oh, and it would be a sad world- Elizabeth Fleming: Did you find one? David Anderson: Look at there. Jeff Corwin: Look at that. Elizabeth Fleming: Look at that. Jeff Corwin: And it would be a sad world without this, and this is why this is so important. Because every sea turtle matters. This little straggler, buried deep in the nest, it's been liberated. In a little bit. David Anderson: Yep. Jeff Corwin: It's going home. Jeff Corwin: Of the seven sea turtle species roaming the oceans of our world, six of them make their nests on the beaches of America and all of them are listed as protected animals, under the Endangered Species Act.

With a total of 5 Olympic medals, 5 World Championship titles, 6 Pan American titles and 47 national titles, his records remain unbroken. Greg is the only male to win gold medals on both 3 meter springboard and 10 meter platform in consecutive Olympic Games (1984, 1988). As the undisputed GOAT of mindset, Greg shares his knowledge and wisdom through his meditation and mindfulness course, as well as through his books: “How to Make the Podium” and “For the Life of Your Dog.” Today, as a coach, speaker, author, actor, activist and humanitarian he continues his tradition of excellence. The circular economy is an economic model focused on eliminating waste and inefficiency and promoting greater resource productivity. The carbon footprint of wasted food is approximately 3.3 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) released into the atmosphere on an annual basis. The shift to a circular economy is not only about managing waste—it presents a new economic paradigm for rethinking how we design, use, and reuse our resources (both products and services), with an estimated economic output potential of USD $4.5 trillion per year by 2030.

The COVID-19 pandemic showed in many cases all the drawbacks of the present economic model- the linear economy (‘take-make-dispose’).
