Chhavi Jatwani is the Design and Innovation Lead at the Future Food Network with international experience in food design and systems thinking. Chhavi has consistently been the industry first-mover, joining the first cohorts of all her educational experiences - BA in product & Interaction design in Bangalore, Masters in Food Design in Milan, and Food Innovation Global mission in Reggio Emilia. Growing up in a developing country, her strong internal compass is guided by only one question - What is the impact I am creating? She entered the food world with the ambition to promote a foundational systemic shift from intensive to regenerative, centralized to decentralized, taste & convenience-driven to also health and wellbeing focussed. In her ten years of experience as a social impact creative, the last five have focused on the intersection of food systems, design and business, maneuvering toolkits from design thinking, service design, systemic design, lean startup, and agile. Through R&D projects and innovation workshops, Chhavi has helped major FMCG companies like Dole, Barilla, and Ab-Inbev in sowing the seeds to their human and planet centered agenda. Today she acts as an ecosystem architect connecting the dots between the needs of different stakeholders of the food system with the ones of our planet, developing a new human & planet centered methodology to drive systemic innovation. Italy, sandwiched between the rapidly warming Adriatic and Mediterranean seas, is particularly vulnerable to climate change. Last year, severe drought drained many of Italy’s rivers, and dried up 45% of its farmland. This year, it’s #flooding. Parts of northern Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region received half their average annual rainfall in 36 hours. Rivers burst their banks, submerging thousands of acres of farmland. #PeterWadhams, Professor Emeritus, Cambridge University, lives in Turin and is witnessing the effects of these crises firsthand. This summer, it may be too dry or too wet, but heat will be the major concern as the #Climate Crisis continues to unfold. With her underwater microphone, scientist Emilia Decker records the soundscapes of freshwater streams. From chattering fish to burping sediment, join her as she introduces us to her amazing underwater friends. Along the way, she shows us that by carefully listening we can create a new sustainable, non-invasive monitoring tool to evaluate the health of an entire ecosystem whilst giving us sobering proof of the devastating impact of human noise pollution. Emilia Decker recently finished her Ph.D. in ecoacoustics, where she listened to the underwater sounds of freshwater creeks in South-East Queensland, Australia. She wants to inspire people to engage with the wonders of the hidden world below the surface of the water and at the same time create a cutting-edge tool to monitor the condition of freshwater systems. In her free time Emilia can be found in and on the water, freediving through shipwrecks, swimming through lakes, or just listening to any water body she can find.
