CCL volunteers in New Hampshire, in collaboration with other local grassroots climate advocacy groups, have had exciting success with a project called the Carbon Cash-Back Coalition (C3). The project aims to get New Hampshire towns to pass a resolution asking state and federal legislators for carbon fee and dividend legislation. So far 23 New Hampshire towns have voted "Yes," with dozens more on the way. Learn more about this project and how you could do something similar in your state. Geared for new volunteers (and seasoned volunteers who want a refresher) to understand CCL's method and vision, and inspire you to find your role so you can hit the ground running. Includes a mock lobby meeting so you are well prepared for June 14-18 Virtual Lobby Week (if you are participating). In this interactive workshop you will: practice how to find and build common ground, review the details of HR 2307, learn how to build constructive relationships with elected representatives. Elli works to start new chapters in communities across the US. She hosts CCL’s weekly Intro Calls and trains volunteers around the world to lead Climate Advocate Training Workshop; she also works closely with volunteers in coal and agricultural communities, ensuring that all voices find a place at the solutions table–a passion founded on her own family roots in Appalachia and rural Maryland. Elli’s work is informed by her 15 years in nonprofit management. Solemi supports Florida, Alabama, and Georgia CCL chapters. She is currently enrolled as a Political Science student at Florida Gulf Coast University and has been a grassroots activist and community organizer for many years in FL. Prior to CCL, she worked as the co-host of a Spanish language TV talk show based in Southwest FL where she had the opportunity to research and conduct in-depth personal interviews with political candidates and politicians. As Education & Engagement Director Brett strives to develop learning pathways that create the most empowered, informed citizen lobbyists possible. Brett began his career in northern MN as a wilderness program director & instructor for several outdoor education non-profits. Connecting civic engagement with democratic participation & issues-based advocacy, Brett has a PhD in Public Policy/Political Economy, & taught undergraduate policy courses, secondary social studies, & campus sustainability.

As we seek the common ground between Republicans and Democrats on climate solutions, Students for Carbon Dividends (S4CD) has emerged as an important ally in building support on college campuses for revenue-neutral carbon pricing. Alex Posner, President and Founder of S4CD, joins our October call to share about the work his organization is doing to bring Republicans on board and the growing movement of the EcoRight, especially among young conservatives. A speaker at CCL’s June conference in 2018, Alex holds a BA in History from Yale University and is also a volunteer with Magicians Without Borders.
