Chrissie Mena identifies and discusses the five main points that women need to overcome to become great leaders. Whether in the business world or in everyday life, these five traits will help to develop personal growth. Chrissie Mena lives in the Barrington area with her husband where they raised three daughters in an 1849 farmhouse they renovated. She established Living60010.com in response to a need for local reporting of charitable efforts in the community online. It quickly became a daily news source with loyal advertisers. Aside from running Living60010, Chrissie is very active in philanthropic efforts having served, started and led many local charity boards and fundraising efforts. She is currently President of the Barrington Noon Rotary, and the previous president of Barrington Junior Women's Club, Barrington Area United Way and Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital's Auxiliary. Chrissie was awarded the Barrington Area Development Council’s 2018 Citizen of the Year, the 2015 Lake County Woman of Distinction and the 2007 Illinois Citizen of the Year from the Illinois Department of Law Enforcement. We stand at a critical moment in history for food and farming. During the last century, our extractive farming practices have contributed to the depletion of nature and brought us to the brink of a planetary emergency, resulting in climate change, catastrophic biodiversity decline and a crisis for public health. With half of our land now used for agriculture, farmers across the globe have become the primary stewards of nature, climate and health. Yet their delivery of public goods requires redesigning our businesses and industries away from systems based on extraction and growth and towards approaches based on the principles of regeneration, sustainability and the circular economy. During this talk, Minette Batters explains how she is involved in the Global Farm Metric coalition and her vision for a sustainable farming future. Minette Batters is President of the National Farmers' Union and runs a tenanted family farm in Wiltshire. The mixed farming business includes a 100 cow continental cross suckler herd, and a small herd of pedigree Herefords as well as sheep and arable. Diversification includes the conversion of a 17th Century tithe barn into a wedding and corporate events venue, and horse liveries. Minette co-founded the campaigning initiatives 'Ladies in Beef' and the 'Great British Beef Week'. She has been an NFU member from grassroots through to County Chairman; she served as Wiltshire's Council delegate and also as Regional Board Chairman for the South West. Minette has also been a member of the NFU Governance Board and served as NFU Deputy President for four years from 2014 to 2018, before being elected as President in 2018. The renown Italian architect Stefano Boeri, member of the Greater Geneva international consultation group explains how this experience opens new horizons for urban sustainability. Stefano BOERI is an architect and president of Triennale di Milano. For this project, he has worked in collaboration with among others Michel Desvigne, landscape architecte, Pier Paolo Tamburelli, architect, Klaas De Rycke, architect and Rawad Choubassi, urban planner. This intervention was the second part of our conference “The Architecture of Transition: buildings, cities and landscapes in the prism of the climate change”.
