As 5G takes to the airwaves, we now turn our imagination to the next generation of wireless technology. The promise of this technology has created an international race to innovate, with significant investment by government as well as industry. And much innovation is needed as 6G aspires to not only support significantly higher data rates than 5G, but also improved reliability along with excellent coverage indoors and out, including for underserved areas. New architectures including edge computing must be designed to drastically enhance efficient resource allocation while also reducing latency for real-time control. Breakthrough energy-efficiency architectures, algorithms and hardware will be needed so that wireless devices can be powered by tiny batteries, energy-harvesting, or over-the-air power transfer. And machine learning may will play a big role in the underlying technologies for NextG as well as the “killer apps” that will drive its deployment and success. Since then, new styles of agriculture and food production have written a new chapter of human history, one that’s driving both climate change and global health crises. Best-selling food authority Mark Bittman offers a panoramic view of the story and explains how we can rescue ourselves from the modern wrong turn. Speaker(s) Mark Bittman Mark Bittman has been a leading voice in global food culture and policy for more than three decades. Born in New York City in 1950, Bittman began writing professionally in 1978. After five years as a general assignment reporter, he turned all of his attention to food. His first cookbook, Fish: The Complete Guide to Buying and Cooking, was published in 1994 and remains in print; since then he has written or co-written thirty others, including the How to Cook Everything series. Mark was distinguished fellow at the University of California, Berkeley and a fellow at the Union of Concerned Scientists; he remains a fellow at Yale and is now on the faculty of Columbia's Mailman School of Public Health. He has received six James Beard Awards, four IACP Awards, and numerous other honors. Bittman is also the editor-in-chief of The Mark Bittman Project, a newsletter and website focusing on all aspects of food, from political to delicious. At the end of COP26, this CISL event (hosted at Scottish Power's Glasgow Headquarters) captured the key messages, insights and actions from the summit, and explored implications for business and the finance industry. Bringing together experts in climate science and policy, business and finance, this event showcased reflections and discussions on the key topics emerging from COP26 and how to address the challenges of the coming years. The science and policy session included reactions to IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report, progress on global climate negotiations and the Paris Agreement, identifying wins and remaining challenges for policy. The business session considers alignment of words and actions, translating the policy statements into metrics and targets for business, including the role of technology and research and development needs for decarbonisation and adaptation. The finance session addresses capital and risk sharing systems for a resilient and just transition, how net zero commitments align with this and implications for business and finance itself. The event concluded by reflecting on what this means for leaders in the short, medium and long-term. This Toolkit includes insights on international standards and provides guidance, and use-cases on the application of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), along with the latest reports on the ever-evolving topic of digital transformation. The Toolkit can universally benefit cities and communities, as well as regions and countries regardless of their level of smart or digital development, or their geographical or economic status. This AI for Good Webinar will be a unique opportunity to understand the benefits of leveraging this Toolkit across the smart city ecosystem while keeping digital transformation as the fulcrum.

When the team first began documenting the families’ lives in 1991, the Neumanns and Stanleys were both struggling to adapt to a new, global economy and the trend towards part-time, lower-wage work.
