Dr. Felix Bast is an Associate Professor and acclaimed transdisciplinary scientist based at the Central University of Punjab, India. He has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed international publications, and is a recipient of prestigious accolades for his contributions to research and teaching. He is a highly regarded science communicator actively involved in the poupularization of science through outreach events. In addition, he is an avid cyclist, a strong advocate of low-carbon footprint lifestyle and environmental sustainability. Notably, Dr. Bast was part of the 36th Indian Scientific Mission to Antarctica (ISEA). Through this gripping TEDx talk, he recounts lessons on climate change and sustainability derived from his scientific expedition to the pristine white continent. He explains how Antarctica serves as a museum to study climate change and supports the fact that our planet is heading towards a "hothouse" state. Whilst the world is focussed on the pandemic, Prof. Koundouri reminds us to pay attention to the ‘mother of all crisis’, the climate crisis. She describes the urgent need to decarbonise national energy plans and presents technological pathways to enable decarbonisation. With the aim of ‘leaving no one behind’, job space green recovery, sustainable and inclusive economies, she emphasizes the need for up-skilling and reskilling the labour force to keep up with the 4th industrial revolution towards sustainability. Richard Wolfson discusses his book "Nuclear Choices for the Twenty-First Century: A Citizen's Guide", an authoritative and unbiased guide to nuclear technology and the controversies that surround it. Are you for nuclear power or against it? What's the basis of your opinion? Did you know a CT scan gives you some 2 millisieverts of radiation? Do you know how much a millisievert is? Does irradiation make foods safer or less safe? What is the point of a bilateral Russia–US nuclear weapons treaty in a multipolar world? These are nuclear questions that call for nuclear choices, and this book equips citizens to make these choices informed ones. It explains, clearly and accessibly, the basics of nuclear technology and describes the controversies surrounding its use. Richard Wolfson is a Benjamin F. Wissler Professor of Physics, Emeritus, at Middlebury College, where he also taught in the Environmental Studies Program and at the Middlebury Institute in Monterey. He did undergraduate work in physics and philosophy at MIT and Swarthmore, holds a Master’s in environmental studies from the University of Michigan and a PhD in physics from Dartmouth. Wolfson’s research involves the Sun, climate change, and solar energy. Other published work encompasses medical physics, plasma physics, electronics, nuclear issues, and astrophysics. His books "Nuclear Choices for the Twenty-first Century: A Citizen’s Guide" and "Simply Einstein: Relativity Demystified" exemplify Wolfson’s interest in making science accessible to nonscientists. Wolfson has published in Scientific American and World Book Encyclopedia. His video courses for The Teaching Company’s Great Courses series include Einstein’s Relativity and the Quantum Revolution, Physics in Your Life, Earth’s Changing Climate, Physics and Our Universe, and Understanding Modern Electronics. He has spent sabbaticals at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, St. Andrews University, and Stanford University. He is also a Fellow of the American Physical Society. On October 18 Dr. Sharon Blackie explored stories, myths, fairy tales, and archetypes illustrating the transformative potential of time spent in inner inquiry, and how doing so might help to shift the collective mindset. She highlighted ways of using the old stories to reflect on today's challenges. During this interactive session, we discussed how time spent in solitude and in nature helps us to listen, participate in a reciprocal relationship with the animate world we belong to, and to deepen our sense of kinship. The session concluded with the challenge to attendees: what are the foundational shifts we need to make to participate in the larger possibility of metamorphosis? Dr. Sharon Blackie is an award-winning writer, psychologist, and mythologist. They explain how advancing the rights of nature in legal codes and constitutions can lead to a radical transformation in humankind’s relationship with the natural world.

Mari Margil, Executive Director of the Center for Democratic and Environmental Rights, leads its International Center for the Rights of Nature. Previously Associate Director of the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund, she assisted the first places in the world to secure the Rights of Nature in law, including Ecuador. She works internationally as well as with Indigenous peoples and tribal nations to advance Rights of Nature legal and policy frameworks. Mari is a co-author of: The Bottom Line or Public Health and Exploring Wild Law: The Philosophy of Earth Jurisprudence.

Thomas Linzey, Senior Counsel for the Center for Democratic and Environmental Rights (CDER), co-founded the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund and the Daniel Pennock Democracy School (which has graduated over 5,000 lawyers, activists, and municipal officials nationally to fight to elevate the rights of their communities over corporate rights). He is the author of several books, including: Be The Change: How to Get What You Want in Your Community; On Community Civil Disobedience in the Name of Sustainability; and co-author of: We the People: Stories from the Community Rights Movement in the United States.
