Un grave brote de enfermedad global causado por el hongo quitridio está matando a las ranas en todo el mundo, y las especies en los bosques nublados como el Parque Nacional Cusuco cerca de San Pedro Sula tienen mayor riesgo. Jonathan estableció recientemente el Centro de Conservación y Rescate de Anfibios de Honduras, un nuevo programa para Honduras donde las ranas enfermas de Cusuco pueden curarse de la enfermedad y prepararse para la reintroducción en el bosque. In April this year, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti released LA's Green New Deal, an ambitious update to the City's 2015 Sustainability pLAn. The Green New Deal outlines 445 initiatives for the city to achieve zero waste and net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Within its 13 chapters and 152 pages, the GND includes one statement concerning LA's fashion industry to "Engage the textile and apparel industry to develop and implement zero waste manufacturing strategies and divert unwanted garments from landfill." Can you improve a neighbourhood without changing its population? Within the "Westwood Next Door" project, the M06 student group proposed interventions for the sustainable development of the Westwood-Highland Park neighbourhood, located in Seattle's periphery. Under the motto small measures for big changes, M06 reshaped the area taking into consideration the residents' needs and interests while at the same time avoiding the gentrification of the neighbourhood. Relevant features of their strategy were the promotion of sustainable thinking and community engagement as well as the promotion of sustainable means of transportation, the greening of central streetscapes, temporary uses of brownfields, and vacant buildings for the community life to thrive in the neighbourhood.
