Louis Tillman, Senior Pastor St. Philip's Evangelical Lutheran Church A graduate of Carthage College, the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago (LSTC), and Air Univ., Rev. Tillman proudly serves as the 16th Senior Pastor of St. Philip’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baltimore, MD. The past 10 years he has served as the regional volunteer coordinator for the Mary Lou & Arthur F. Mahone Foundation, whose mission is to provide educational opportunities for economically and academically deserving youth, support healthy lifestyles initiatives in communities of color. Thais Lopez Vogel, Co-Founder/Trustee of VoLo Foundation A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Thais is responsible for setting priorities, approving strategies and allocating resources at VoLo. She envisions VoLo playing a leadership role in expanding awareness of environmental issues. She created Florida Climate Week making it the most important climate focused event in the Southeastern U.S. Her focus includes childhood education and global health care. Join the UK Corporate Leaders Groups at the launch of its latest policy briefing 'The Best of Both Worlds: How tackling cost of living and decarbonisation creates win-wins for the UK economy'. ⏰Monday 27 June, 2-3pm BST The UK is in the midst of dual crises, with a cost-of-living crisis adding to the climate crisis. Both of these crises disproportionately affect the poorest and most vulnerable in society, who also have fewest resources to cope with changing circumstances. It is vital we tackle both crises with the urgency they require. Policy measures to address the cost-of-living crisis can be just as, if not more, effective when designed to align with the UK’s net zero target. An aligned approach to addressing the cost of living crisis and decarbonisation challenge could create win-wins for the UK economy. To examine what a cost of living crisis policy package that supports decarbonisation could look like, the UK Corporate Leaders Groups (CLG UK) commissioned Cambridge Econometrics to undertake a modelling exercise. Our evidence indicates that policies that align with the net zero target generate more favourable economic outcomes than other types of cost-of-living support policy packages, in addition to being more progressive through primarily benefitting the lowest income households most. Peter Knowlton, Past President UE, Radio & Machine Workers of America Peter was a member of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE) for 35 years until his retirement in 2019. He first became active in the labor movement in the late 1970’s as a union cab driver, rank and file activist, and organizer in Minneapolis, MN. He went on to become a Field Organizer, President of the Northeast Region, and eventually elected UE General President. She is a member of her local Chamber of Commerce, has her own technical writing business, and loves being an aunt and teaching children about nature and science. Steffi Rausch, CCL Volunteer, Asheville, NC Chapter Steffi is the lead organizer for the Asheville Citizens’ Climate Lobby, co-lead of the Grasstops Engagement Action Team, and co-lead of the national Brewery Declaration campaign seeking “999 Bottles of Beer on the Wall”. She has also managed to seek over 100 EICDA endorsements all while working full-time as Operations Coordinator for Energy Savers Network.
